Fishing Info for Groundhog Lake

The Groundhog River is a river in Cochrane District and Sudbury District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. The river is in the James Bay drainage basin and is a left tributary of the Mattagami River. About 23 fish species have been identified in the Groundhog River, including self-sustaining population of lake sturgeon which are provincially rare to uncommon. The Groundhog River is an advanced-level canoe route with several series of rapids and white water, in particular from the north of Groundhog Lake to the town of Fauquier; however, this river trip can be extended all the way to James Bay via the Mattagami and Moose Rivers.
